Anthidium porterae

description Anthidium porterae Overview

Anthidium porterae is a solitary bee in the family Megachilidae and the genus Anthidium, whose members are commonly called wool-carder bees. Females of this group gather soft plant fibers and use them to line or construct brood cells in cavities, where individual offspring develop with stored pollen and nectar. The species occurs in western North America and, unlike social honey bees, does not maintain a colony with queens and worker castes.
