Arbor Low

description Arbor Low Overview

Arbor Low is a Neolithic henge monument located in the Peak District of Derbyshire, England, dating to around 2500 BCE. The site consists of a large circular earthwork bank and ditch enclosing roughly 50 recumbent limestone slabs. The stones are currently lying flat, though it remains debated among archaeologists whether they were originally set upright or if they were always intended to be recumbent. It is a scheduled ancient monument under the care of English Heritage and is situated on privately owned land, remaining a significant example of British prehistoric architecture.
