Arrowhead

description Arrowhead Overview

Arrowhead commonly refers to broadleaf arrowhead, Sagittaria latifolia, an aquatic perennial native to wetlands across much of North America. It grows in shallow freshwater and is recognized by arrow-shaped emergent leaves and white flowers with three petals. Its underground tubers, called wapato, were gathered as food by Indigenous peoples in parts of North America, especially along waterways in the Pacific Northwest.
