description Beagle 2 Overview
Beagle 2 was a British Mars lander carried by the European Space Agency's Mars Express mission, launched in 2003. It was intended to land on Mars on 25 December 2003, but it made no radio contact after the landing attempt and was declared lost in 2004. Images from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter identified the lander on the Martian surface in 2015, showing that it had reached Mars even though its mission could not be completed.
