Beikou

description Beikou Overview

Beikou, also called boikoo tarkbei or Daur hockey, is a traditional stick-and-ball game associated with the Daur people of Inner Mongolia, China. Players use long wooden branches to move a ball-like piece made from apricot root; accounts also describe felt-covered balls used in evening games, sometimes set alight. The game resembles field or street hockey but is distinguished by its Daur name, local equipment, and cultural setting.
