Bengaline

description Bengaline Overview

Bengaline is a woven textile characterized by pronounced horizontal or crosswise ribs. Traditional versions used silk, wool, or combinations of fibers, while modern bengaline is commonly made with rayon, nylon, polyester, and sometimes elastane to add stretch. Its firm body and ribbed surface have made it suitable for dresses, skirts, coats, ribbons, and other apparel, and the fabric was used in Victorian clothing.
