Benjamin Eli Smith (1857-1913) was an American editor and lexicographer associated with The Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia. He served as managing editor of the first edition, published in six volumes from 1889 to 1891, and later became editor-in-chief of the revised edition issued in 1911 after William Dwight Whitney's death.
