description Calpico Overview

Calpico is the international brand name for a Japanese cultured milk drink sold in Japan as Calpis. It is produced by fermenting milk with lactic-acid bacteria and yeast, then diluting the resulting concentrate to make a sweet, mildly tangy, noncarbonated beverage. The product was introduced in 1919 by Kaiun Mishima, and it is commonly sold either ready to drink or as a concentrate that is mixed with water or other drinks.
