description Camelopardalis Overview

Camelopardalis is a large, faint constellation in the northern sky that represents a giraffe. Petrus Plancius introduced the name on a celestial globe in 1612, and it is now one of the 88 constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. It lies near the north celestial pole and contains no very bright stars, so its outline is difficult to see without a star chart, although the region includes galaxies such as NGC 2403 and IC 342.
