Chainz

description Chainz Overview

Chainz is a casual puzzle game developed by MumboJumbo in which players rotate interconnected chain links to create matches. Its central mechanic differs from conventional match-three games because pieces are turned in place, and completed groups disappear to make room for further combinations. The game was released for personal computers and is intended for players who favor score-based, increasingly difficult puzzle sessions built around pattern recognition and planning.

help Chainz FAQ

How does Chainz differ from a normal match-three game?

Instead of swapping pieces, you click individual chain links to rotate them 90 degrees. Three or more adjacent links of the same color and orientation then disappear, allowing links above them to fall.

When and where was MumboJumbo's Chainz released?

MumboJumbo released Chainz for Windows and Macintosh in 2003, with a limited Java version playable in a web browser. The original release date reported by Macworld was October 21, 2003.

Does Chainz have a timed mode?

Yes, it includes a normal mode and a timed mode called Time Attack. The documented Time Attack rules give the player 1 minute to complete a level.

What special links appear in Chainz?

Special pieces include universal links that join different colors, 2x and 5x multiplier links, black links that cannot be rotated, and letter links that spell CHAINZ. These pieces add scoring goals and obstacles beyond the basic color match.
