Colchic Plain is a low-lying alluvial plain in western Georgia along the eastern Black Sea coast. Centered on the lower Rioni River basin, it has a humid subtropical climate, extensive wetlands, and fertile soils, with the Greater Caucasus to the north and the Lesser Caucasus to the south and east. The plain occupies part of the wider ancient region of Colchis, which is associated in Greek mythology with the story of the Golden Fleece.
