Common Mullein

description Common Mullein Overview

Common mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a biennial flowering plant in the figwort family, native to Europe, Asia, and northern Africa and introduced widely elsewhere. During its first year it forms a basal rosette of large, grey-green, woolly leaves; in its second year it produces a tall flowering spike with small yellow flowers. It commonly grows in disturbed ground, roadsides, grasslands, and open woodland. The plant has a long history of use in traditional herbal practices.
