Consequences

The sketch centers on a high school teacher who attempts to discipline a rebellious student, only to have the situation spiral into an absurd, hyper-masculine contest of intimidation. Instead of backing down, the teacher and student continuously try to one-up each other with over-the-top threats.

Keegan-Michael Key plays the teacher, while Jordan Peele plays the unruly student. This dynamic is a reversal of their famous 'Substitute Teacher' sketch, where Key plays the aggressive teacher and Peele plays a calm student.

The sketch focuses primarily on psychological and verbal intimidation rather than actual physical brawling. The comedy derives from the ridiculousness of a grown adult educator getting into a 'macho' standoff with a teenager over a minor classroom disruption.

The standoff continues to escalate until it reaches a breaking point where the absurdity of their threats peaks. Like many Key & Peele sketches, the tension is resolved with a sudden cut to black or a visual gag that punctuates the ridiculousness of the scenario.
