Contrexéville is a spa town in the Vosges department of northeastern France, known for the natural mineral water drawn from its springs. The water became associated with therapeutic bathing and drinking cures during the eighteenth century, and the town's first thermal establishment opened in 1774. The source was officially recognized as natural mineral water in 1861, and commercial bottling began there in 1908.
