Coromandel Plain

description Coromandel Plain Overview

The Coromandel Plain is a low-lying coastal region of southeastern India, chiefly in Tamil Nadu, along the Bay of Bengal and east of the Eastern Ghats. It is one of the subdivisions of Tamil Nadu's eastern coastal plain, distinct in geographic descriptions from the alluvial plain of the Cauvery delta. The region supports agriculture and settled coastal communities, and its position on the Bay of Bengal has connected it with maritime trade and ports.
