David Silverman is an American animator and director best known for his extensive work on the animated television series The Simpsons. He was the first person to animate the Simpson family for The Tracey Ullman Show shorts and served as a supervising director for the original series when it debuted in 1989. Silverman directed The Simpsons Movie in 2007 and has been responsible for establishing many of the show's foundational character animation rules. He also contributed to animation for Pixar, including work on the film Monsters, Inc.
