Dolichometopus

description Dolichometopus Overview

Dolichometopus is an extinct genus of Ordovician asaphid trilobites, known from fossil-bearing limestones associated with Baltica, including parts of Scandinavia. It is distinguished by an elongated body form relative to other members of Asaphida, the trilobite group to which it belongs. As a trilobite, it was a marine arthropod preserved in the fossil record rather than a living animal. The genus is chiefly relevant to palaeontologists and museum collections documenting Ordovician life in the ancient Baltic region.
