description Elmo Williams Overview

Elmo Williams was an American film editor and producer who shared the Academy Award for Best Film Editing with Harry Gerstad for High Noon (1952). His influential editing on the Fred Zinnemann-directed western helped establish techniques for building suspense through crosscutting. Williams later transitioned to producing and executive roles in Hollywood, working on films including The French Connection (1971) as executive producer.
