End Zone

description End Zone Overview

End Zone is a 1972 novel by Don DeLillo, his second published book, set at fictional Logos College in West Texas. The novel uses the rituals and language of American football as a framework through which to examine broader themes of systems, violence, and nuclear annihilation. The protagonist, running back Gary Harkness, becomes increasingly fixated on the relationship between athletic competition and existential catastrophe. The novel is an early example of DeLillo's engagement with language, mass culture, and apocalyptic themes.
