Swiss climber Fred Nicole established Esperanza in 2001. Daniel Woods repeated it as a teenager in late 2005, but he did not make the first ascent.

What is the difference between Esperanza and Desperanza?

Desperanza adds a lower start to Esperanza and was first climbed by Daniel Woods in 2010. Woods proposed V15 for the extended line, making it harder than the original V14 problem.
