Flemish Plain

description Flemish Plain Overview

The Flemish Plain is a low-lying geographical region of northern Belgium and adjacent areas of the southern Netherlands and northern France. It forms part of the coastal and inland lowlands of Flanders and is characterized by generally flat terrain, extensive settlement, agricultural land, and a dense network of waterways. Historic urban centers developed across the region through trade, textile production, and river and coastal connections. It is studied as a physical and cultural landscape rather than as a single administrative division.
