Freesia

description Freesia Overview

Freesia is a genus of herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the iris family, Iridaceae, native to South Africa. They grow from corms and produce distinctively arranged spikes of tubular, funnel-shaped flowers that bloom along one side of the stem. Named after the German physician Friedrich Heinrich Theodor Freese, these plants are heavily cultivated for the cut flower industry and ornamental use due to their strong, sweet fragrance and wide range of colors.
