GE U30C

description GE U30C Overview

The GE U30C is a six-axle diesel-electric road locomotive from General Electric's Universal series. Built from the mid-1960s through the 1970s, it developed 3,000 horsepower from a turbocharged 16-cylinder diesel engine and used a C-C wheel arrangement. The model was ordered by several North American railroads for heavy freight service and became one of GE's prominent high-power Universal-series locomotives.
