Hana

description Hana Overview

Hana is a 2006 Japanese period comedy-drama directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. Set among common residents of an Edo tenement, it follows a young samurai who is expected to avenge his father's death but lacks both enthusiasm for violence and certainty about the values behind his mission. The film uses the conventions of the revenge narrative to examine community, performance, masculinity, and the social demands placed on members of the warrior class.
