Hebrew character

description Hebrew character Overview

The Hebrew character, Orthosia gothica, is a noctuid moth found across much of Europe and parts of temperate Asia. Adults typically fly in spring and have dark markings on the forewings that were interpreted as resembling a Hebrew letter, giving the species its English name. Its caterpillars feed on the leaves of various deciduous trees and shrubs, while adults are active at night and may visit flowering plants.
