Independent Study is a young-adult dystopian novel by Joelle Charbonneau, published in 2014 as the second book in The Testing trilogy. It follows Cia Vale after she enters the University, an institution that trains future leaders in the post-apocalyptic United Commonwealth. Cia continues to face dangerous examinations while investigating the political system behind the Testing. The novel expands the series from survival trials into questions about authority, education and resistance.
