description Kayserops Overview

Kayserops is a genus of Devonian proetid trilobites named in honor of the German paleontologist Emanuel Kayser. It is recorded from Middle and Late Devonian marine sediments in Europe and North Africa, including fossil-bearing rocks of Morocco. Kayserops had the schizochroal eyes characteristic of many phacopid trilobites, in which numerous small lenses were set into the visual surface of the compound eye.
