Kepler-11f

description Kepler-11f Overview

Kepler-11f is one of six known transiting planets orbiting the Sun-like star Kepler-11. Announced in 2011, it belongs to an unusually compact system in which five planets orbit closer to their star than Mercury does to the Sun. Transit timing variations allowed researchers to estimate planetary masses and densities, making the system important for studying the structures and formation of low-density sub-Neptune planets.
