description Kepler-186d Overview

Kepler-186d is the third known planet in the Kepler-186 planetary system, which orbits a cool M-type dwarf star. It completes one orbit in about 13.3 days and was identified through the transit method, which detects the slight dimming caused when a planet passes in front of its star. The planet is larger than Earth and lies much closer to its star than the system's outer planet, Kepler-186f, which received attention for its location near the habitable zone.
