Kina

description Kina Overview

Kina was a false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens) held in captivity at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology. Captured in Japan during the late 1970s, she was utilized for decades as a primary research subject in marine bioacoustics, echolocation, and hearing studies. Her capture and subsequent life were also highlighted in the 2009 documentary The Cove, which examined the global marine mammal trade.
