Linarite

description Linarite Overview

Linarite is a lead-copper sulfate hydroxide mineral with the chemical formula PbCuSO4(OH)2. It forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zones of lead and copper ore deposits, where it commonly appears as deep blue to azure prismatic or tabular crystals and sometimes as crusts or coatings. Because it is rare and relatively delicate, linarite is chiefly collected as a mineral specimen rather than used as a conventional jewelry gemstone.
