description Loch Long Overview

Loch Long is a sea loch in Argyll and Bute on Scotland’s west coast, connected with the Firth of Clyde. The waterway reaches inland toward Arrochar and has supported maritime and military activity. A Royal Navy torpedo testing station operated at Arrochar from 1912 to 1986, using the loch to fire, observe, and recover unarmed torpedoes.
