Marcel Dupré was a French organist, composer, improviser, and teacher who lived from 1886 to 1971. He became widely known for concert performances, organ transcriptions, and highly developed improvisation. Dupré succeeded Charles-Marie Widor as organist at the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris and taught at the Paris Conservatoire. His output includes organ works, liturgical music, and pedagogical studies.
