Molong

description Molong Overview

Molong is a meteorite from the Molong district of New South Wales, Australia, and is classified as a main-group pallasite. Pallasites are stony-iron meteorites in which olivine crystals occur within a nickel-iron metal matrix, so Molong represents material associated with the boundary between rocky and metallic parts of a differentiated asteroid. Its name comes from the Australian locality.
