Moskvitch, also spelled Moskvich, was a Soviet and Russian automobile marque produced by the Moscow small-car plant and its successors. The first Moskvich 400 entered series production in 1947 and was based on the Opel Kadett K38, while later models such as the 402, 407, 412, and 2141 reflected successive Soviet designs. The historic OAO Moskvitch operation produced cars until 2001; the name was later revived at the Moscow plant in a new production operation beginning in 2022.
