N76

description N76 Overview

N76 is a Wolf-Rayet nebula and H II region in the Small Magellanic Cloud, centered on the Wolf-Rayet binary system AB7. Its gas is ionized by the hot central stellar source, while stellar winds have produced a hot, relatively empty cavity inside the surrounding nebula. Astronomical studies model N76 as an approximately spherical region with low-density ionized gas and strong infrared emission lines, making it a useful case for examining massive stars in a low-metallicity galaxy.
