No. NB-IoT is a cellular low-power wide-area technology standardized by 3GPP in Release 13, while Bluetooth is a short-range radio system intended for local device connections.

How is NB-IoT different from LTE-M?

NB-IoT uses a very narrow radio channel and is suited to small, infrequent messages such as meter readings. LTE-M normally supports higher data rates, lower latency, and better mobility, which makes it more suitable for many trackers and moving devices.

Does an NB-IoT sensor need a SIM card or mobile operator?

Usually, yes. NB-IoT uses licensed cellular spectrum, so the device normally needs an operator profile, SIM or eSIM, and an IoT data service rather than a home Wi-Fi router.

What devices are commonly connected with NB-IoT?

Common examples include smart meters, environmental sensors, parking sensors, and fixed asset monitors. These devices benefit from low power use and wide-area coverage, but NB-IoT is not intended for streaming video or other high-bandwidth workloads.
