description NGC 2867 Overview
NGC 2867, also known as Caldwell 90, is a planetary nebula in the southern constellation Carina. John Herschel discovered it in April 1834, during his astronomical observations from the southern hemisphere, and early descriptions noted its compact, round appearance and star-like brightness. As a planetary nebula, it is the glowing shell of gas expelled by an evolved star, not a planet or a region where planets are forming.
