description Oura Temperature Sensor Overview

The Oura Temperature Sensor is a small, wearable sensor that continuously monitors your body temperature. This data can be used to track changes in your basal metabolic rate, identify illness early on, and optimize sleep.

help Oura Temperature Sensor FAQ

Does the Oura Ring show an exact body-temperature reading?

Oura primarily reports nightly skin-temperature changes relative to your personal baseline, not a thermometer-style core temperature. The app establishes that baseline during the first couple of weeks of wear.

When does Oura measure temperature?

Sensors inside the ring sample finger temperature while you sleep and produce a nightly trend. Oura combines that signal with metrics such as resting heart rate and heart-rate variability when calculating Readiness.

Can Oura's temperature sensor detect an illness?

A sustained deviation from your baseline can indicate that your body is under strain, including possible illness. It is a warning signal rather than a diagnosis, so fever or concerning symptoms still require a medical thermometer and appropriate care.

How does Oura use temperature for cycle tracking?

Cycle Insights uses nightly temperature trends and other biosignals to estimate cycle phases and the next period window. Oura can also share temperature data with Natural Cycles, but that integration is a separate service.
