Peter Dutton is an Australian Liberal Party politician who won the Queensland seat of Dickson in 2001 and served as a minister in the Abbott, Turnbull, and Morrison governments, holding the health, immigration and border protection, home affairs, and defence portfolios. He became Leader of the Liberal Party and Opposition Leader in May 2022 after the coalition's election defeat. Before entering parliament he worked as a Queensland police officer, and in 2025 he led the coalition to a heavy loss while losing his own seat.
