The series stars Edmond O'Brien as Sam Benedict, a prominent criminal defense attorney based in San Francisco, making it one of the earliest network legal dramas set on the West Coast. The show was created by E. Jack Neuman and produced by MGM Television.

The series ran for a single season of 28 episodes before cancellation.
