Sekihan

description Sekihan Overview

Sekihan is a traditional Japanese dish consisting of glutinous rice (mochigome) steamed with adzuki beans, which imparts a distinctive reddish-pink color to the rice. The dish is strongly associated with celebratory occasions in Japanese culture, including birthdays, weddings, and seasonal festivals such as Shichi-Go-San. The association with celebration stems from a longstanding Japanese tradition in which the color red is linked to good fortune and the warding off of misfortune.
