Sh2-124

description Sh2-124 Overview

Sh2-124 is a large, faint emission-nebula complex in the constellation Cygnus. It is associated with the infrared source RAFGL 2789 and the luminous object V645 Cygni, whose nature has been discussed in connection with a young or evolved massive star. Infrared observations are important for studying the obscured material in the region, because dust absorbs much of the visible light. The object is of interest to observers of diffuse Galactic nebulae and star-forming environments.
