Shipwash

description Shipwash Overview

Shipwash is a sandbank in the southern North Sea off Harwich and the Suffolk coast. The shoal was historically marked by the Shipwash lightvessel, a floating navigational aid used to warn mariners of the shallow area. It is therefore associated with coastal navigation and the changing hazards created by offshore sandbanks, rather than with settlement or recreation.
