Smith Network Mips

The helmet combines a Mips low-friction liner with zonal Koroyd impact-absorbing material and a conventional helmet structure. Mips is designed to permit limited movement during certain angled impacts, while Koroyd cells compress under force.

Smith lists the medium Mips version at about 300 grams, or 11 ounces. Actual weight can vary slightly by size and production version.

It is a versatile road and everyday cycling helmet rather than a full-coverage trail or downhill model. Smith also includes eyewear storage channels that work particularly well with the company's cycling glasses.

No helmet should be reused after a significant impact, even when the outer shell looks intact. Mips and Koroyd do not make the Network a multi-impact helmet, and hidden compression can reduce future protection.
