SpellTower

description SpellTower Overview

SpellTower is a mobile puzzle game designed by independent developer Zach Gage and released in 2011. The game combines traditional word search mechanics with tile-clearing strategy, requiring players to trace adjacent letters to form words and eliminate rows. As players form words, the remaining letters are subject to gravity, and new rows of letters periodically rise from the bottom. The game ends when the letter tiles reach the top of the screen.

help SpellTower FAQ

How do you play SpellTower?

Players trace adjacent letter tiles to form words, which removes those tiles from the grid. Each mode adds a twist: in Tower mode, rows of tiles are added over time; in Puzzle mode, clearing longer words pushes more tiles up; and in Rush mode, new rows appear on a timer, creating pressure to find words quickly.

What is the difference between SpellTower and SpellTower+?

SpellTower+ is the 2020 updated version released through Apple Arcade, featuring new game modes, refreshed graphics, daily challenges, and multiplayer support. The original SpellTower remains available on some platforms but does not include the expanded content of the Plus version.

Who made SpellTower?

SpellTower was created by Zach Gage, an independent game designer based in New York known for mobile puzzle and word games. His other notable titles include Typeshift, Really Bad Chess, and Flipflop Solitaire.
