Squash Beetle

description Squash Beetle Overview

Squash beetle is the common name for Epilachna borealis, a North American ladybird beetle in the family Coccinellidae. Unlike many ladybird species that prey on aphids and other small insects, this species is plant-eating: both larvae and adults feed on the leaves of squash, gourds, pumpkins, and related cucurbit plants. Its feeding can damage foliage and makes it a garden and crop pest where cucurbits are grown.
