description Taenicephalus Overview
Taenicephalus is an extinct genus of Upper Cambrian trilobites in the family Parabolinoididae. Its type species, Taenicephalus shumardi, was described from Wisconsin, and the genus is also recorded from Cambrian rocks in Utah and western Canada. The Taenicephalus Zone or Subzone is a regional biostratigraphic unit used to correlate Sunwaptan and related Upper Cambrian strata in Laurentian North America.
