Is Tyvek waterproof or breathable?

Tyvek is highly resistant to liquid water, meaning rain and splashes will not easily penetrate it. However, the microscopic pores in the spunbonded fibers make it highly permeable to water vapor, allowing the material to breathe.

Can you tear Tyvek by hand?

Despite feeling like stiff paper, Tyvek is incredibly difficult to tear laterally due to the strong cross-linking of its plastic fibers. You almost always need scissors or a knife to cut it cleanly.
