description Viaphacops Overview

Viaphacops is a genus of phacopid trilobites known from Devonian rocks in eastern North America. It belongs to Phacopida, an order of extinct marine arthropods whose members had calcified exoskeletons and could enroll their bodies for protection. Fossils assigned to Viaphacops are used in studies of Devonian biogeography, including comparisons between Appalachian and Old World trilobite faunas.
